Global Music Leaders is an ambitious leadership programme that will identify, upskill, profile and connect 12 exciting and exceptional emerging international music industry leaders and change makers from the UK & Ireland with their international peers.

A partnership with the British Council, we're seeking applications from music industry professionals who:

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in the music industry
  • Define themselves, or are defined by others, as leaders and/or change makers and are making an impact across their domestic music industries and music cultures/scenes 
  • Are keen to work internationally, and build new contacts and relationships
  • Currently work across music industry roles including festival and event production, curation, programming, promotion, creative direction and artist management (this can include employees, entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals)

We particularly welcome nominations from a diverse range of professionals including those from the global majority, women and people of marginalised genders, D/deaf, Disabled and/or neurodivergent people, LGBTQIA+ people, and people from other underrepresented groups.

Benefits

  • Online and in-person masterclasses (including professional leadership training and coaching) focused on optimising your individual leadership style 
  • Create an individual leadership development plan and DiSC profile 
  • Learn about effective leadership styles, leading and influencing inside and outside organisations
  • Build a supportive network and create connections on an international scale with other professionals working across the global industry
  • Peer mentoring and team building activities to build confidence in ideation and collaboration
  • Develop confidence and resilience strategies using a range of materials and activities
  • Attend WOMEX 24 as a delegate

Practical Details 

There will be 10 online sessions between 8 July-14 October 2024.

  • 8, 15, 22 July
  • 12, 19, 26 August
  • 23, 30 September
  • 7, 14 October

All online sessions will take place on Mondays between 6-8pm (BST).

Between 21-27 October 2024 you will attend a week-long residency in Manchester during WOMEX, the biggest conference of the global music scene.

We will cover travel and accommodation costs (for example, international flights, train travel, hotels), as well as your delegate registration for WOMEX 24.

In January and February 2025 you will receive online coaching to help you in your next steps.
